Lamlash Golf Course new work Update

Well here we are at the start of a new season. There are a few projects ongoing on the course already, all subject to the weather conditions of course!

The major task being undertaken at the moment is the upgrading of the 16th path which will allow the safe use of any type of buggy and general access - you can see pictures below of the path before and the progress so far.  At present there is a temporary path while work is underway.  Apologies for any inconvenience this may cause to our members and visitors.  This is the start of an ongoing programme to upgrade all steep paths on the course to improve access.

Quarry Alterations

Some of our members may have niticed the alterations to the quarry on the 15th hole. This is for safety reasons; the top section has been evened out for easier access and this be turfed and seeded similar to the bottom section

Frozen out

Some images taken at the end of January showing the course looking great in the winter sun, but unfortunately frozen out too:

Stripes down the 9th hole with the Holy Isle looking great in the background.

A new addition to the staff, Lennie the lizard who has taken up residence in the Greenkeepers shed!

Fallen tree June 10th 2014

A tree fell on Tuesday afternoon, due to the rain and it turns out the base was also rotten. It was a large beech tree and it blocked Manse Road plus one of our accesses to the course.

It took most of Wednesday to clear with our staff and Gareth McNicol (tree surgeon) who chainsawed most of the wood and the rest was chipped using his chipper.

The road was finally opened again on Wednesday evening. All in a days work!

Course invaders!

This strange effect was found on young trees at 3rd fairway earlier this week.

We have been advised it could be some kind of moth!

Also found some strange bees nesting by the shed, Arran Bee Club took samples and are investigating...!

Any feedback welcome.
